Manufactured in 1880. Standard proofed blued 22" barrel chambered in .45-70 with blade front sight and "C" marked ladder rear. Case hardened low arch breech block marked "US / MODEL / 1873". Blued lock with standard Springfield markings and a 3-position tumbler. Oil finished walnut carbine stock stamped with an oval "ESA" cartouche. Blued steel mounts include a single barrel band without stacking swivel, saddle ring and bar, 2-piece trigger guard, and tool trap buttplate. 2-piece cleaning rod and broken case extractor are present in the tool compartment. CONDITION: A very nice example, near excellent. The vast majority of the fading arsenal blue is retained on the barrel and lock with some wear and scattered marks. Other blued hardware shows some wear with the majority of the original finish retained. Significant portions of fading case colors displayed on breech block. Stock is fine with minor impressions. Bright bore with strong, well-defined rifling. Crisp mechanics.
