French MAS 45 bolt action trainer designed (primary difference was a French style rear sight) in the French-controlled Mauser Factory in Oberndorf, Germany after World War II, and then made by MAS in France. Design is from Mauser's last .22LR training rifle (M45) which was designed in 1944, with production starting in 1945. Receiver is marked "MAS", "Mod 45", "cal 5.5-22 long rifle", with a serial number of "F 21095". Bolt assembly is matching to receiver. Parkerized dark gray military finish on tapered barrel, bolt, receiver, sights, buttplate (which is marked "MAS"), magazine, trigger guard assembly, and sling swivels. Rear Mauser military-style rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation (out to 150 meters), with removeable front sight, and no sight hood. 5-shot detachable magazine is marked "Mod.45", and rifle has Mauser military style 3-position safety. Walnut plain pistol grip stock with steel buttplate and sling swivels. CONDITION: 95+% original finish, with only light wear on bolt. Walnut stock has only a couple of tiny dings, and has a circular repair on top behind the receiver. Bore is bright, rifle is mechanically sound, and functional. These rifles are getting tough to find, especially in this condition. WEZ
