German pre-WWII Mauser ES-340N bolt action sporting rifle. "MAUSER - WERKE A.-G. OBERNDORF a.N.", with caliber, and other proofs on the barrel, receiver, and bolt. Mauser logo on the top of the grooved receiver. Company logo is also on the steel butt plate. Crisp Mauser cartouche on the right side rear of the stock, next to a rare stamped "SA" (Sturmabteilung) marking. No import marks. Matching serials on the barrel, receiver, and bolt. Round steel barrel with blade front sight. Original finish on the metal components. Bolt may have been refinished. Wood sporter style stock with smooth metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with light wear and scratches. There is a splotch of surface freckling forming on the muzzle. Wood has some finish wear, with some dents and scratches. There is a shallow crack on the right side of the stock, starting in the bolt relief cut. Bore is bright, trigger functions, and rifle is mechanically sound. A "SA" marked rifle is rare and desirable. WEZ
