A very rare and desirable pair of consecutively serial numbered "Meisterschaftmodell der Geco Sportbuchse Modell 28" (Championship Model) by "Gustav Genschow & Co.", "Geco" .22LR rifles. Both are marked "Gustav Genschow & Co. Akt. Ges. Abtl. Waffenfabrik Berlin-Spandau" on the receivers, with the "Geco" emblem and ""Kal .22 Long Rifle 5.4mm" on the barrels. Both have a blued finish on the barrel, receiver, sights, trigger guard (which has checkering underneath), and sling swivels. Both have heavy target barrels with 11mm grooves for sights, with numbered rear sight locations. Both have a deluxe walnut stock with an enlarged forearm area, and checkering on the grip and forearm area. Both have safeties with a red dot on top of the receiver to indicate "fire". You must pull the rear cocker on the bolt to the rear and turn right to place on safe. Both have a black "Bakelit" grip cap and butt plate, with the "Geco" emblem on the rear. (A) Serial number "15620" on the barrel and bolt assembly. Rear target sight is removable and slides along the rail and is adjustable for both elevation (out to 200 meters) and windage (requires a key), with a removable front sight blade. CONDITION: Approximately 93% of its original blued finish remains. Walnut stock is dull with scattered marks and light dents (especially near the left rear sight rail). B) Serial number "15621" on the barrel and bolt assembly. A "Geco" marked rear diopter sight assembly is mounted on the left rear sight rail and is fully adjustable for elevation and windage. Instead of a blade sight in the front mount, this rifle has a diopter front assembly mounted. CONDITION: Approximately 93% of its original blued finish remains. Walnut stock has a coat of varnish applied with scattered very light dings and scratches under the finish. Bore is bright, rifle is mechanically sound, and functional. A very rare opportunity to own a consecutively serial numbered pair of rare German 1930s GECO target .22LR rifles. The book "German Smallbore Training Rifles" by Bruno Guigues presents these rifles and their sight variations on page 171. A copy of that page can be provided upon request. WEZ
