A small Civil War grouping attributed to John Blum, who enlisted on 19 September 1861 in Company I, 19th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Included is a long biography that details his life; it is noted that Blum was involved with every battle the 19th fought, with the exception of Shiloh. The group includes his M1860 cavalry saber in standard configuration and marked "US / [illegible] / 1863". The blade exhibits a gray patina with mellow patina to hilt. Leather wrap with scuffs and tight brass wire. Scabbard also exhibits a gray patina. Also included is his post-War uniform, as, according to the biography, Blum was quite active after the war. The uniform dates to the Spanish American War era, includes a jacket, hat, and gators, and is adorned with Ohio insignia. The uniform exhibits scattered blemishes and fraying in areas, but displays nicely. Lastly is Blum's bugle, constructed of brass and unmarked. The bugle exhibits scattered dents and a nice patina. A folder detailing the consigner's research of Blum is included. CONDITION: Good.
