Tom Shimoda is one of the most well-respected of the early custom 1911 gunsmiths. This is a conversion build off a series 70 frame with a heavily modified and skeletonized slide assembly to alow for a Bomar aristocrat style rib with fixed blade front sight and adjustable rear sight, and a fixed blowback barrel pinned to frame. Small parts comprise a narrow serrated hammer, case colored checkered trigger, modified serrated slide release to accommodate barrel pin, serrated safety, long A1 grip safety, and flat checkered mainspring housing. Front strap has been checkered, with a small area of stippling at top. Pachmayr grip scales. Colt Service Model Ace magazine with "straight down" loading assist. Tom's distinct Kanji is on left side of the barrel assembly. Trigger breaks at a crisp 2.5#. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Overall very good, showing little evidence of use since conversion with assorted random handling and use marks, with some superficial scratches and silvering, mostly to edges. Minor takedown mark. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent, bright, with strong rifling.
