Circa 1869 to 1873. Barrel with half moon front sight, large "SOUTHERNER" marking on the top flat, and 3-line Brown MFG. address. Right side of the barrel engraved "IN GOD WE TRUST" in a banner with a central shield, the left side displays crosshatching and a few scrolls. Scarce spur trigger iron frame also engraved with foliate scroll over a punch dot background. Grips are aftermarket 2-piece smooth ivory. Accompanied by a later leather holster. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Good. Metal displays an even gray patina with a few traces of blued finish. Grips are fine. Bore shows black powder abrasion with defined rifling. Mechanically fine.
