Manufactured in 1850 as production began transitioning into the Model 1849 Pocket. This example features a 4" blued octagon barrel without loading lever, 2-line New York address, pin front sight, and hammer notch rear. Late style percussion cylinder rolled with stagecoach holdup scene. Classic silver plated brass square back trigger guard and back strap. Grips are 1-piece smooth walnut. Housed in a red velvet lined partitioned mahogany case with Walker's cap tin and reproduction "L" tool. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel retains traces of original blue in protected areas, overall displaying a dove gray patina. Frame and cylinder likewise exhibit a gray patina with a sharp cylinder scene. Grip straps retain nearly all of their mellow silver plating, thinning to brass along the high edges. Grips have some scattered marks and wear around the base but are otherwise very good. Strong bore with some mild black powder abrasion and frosting. Good mechanics. Full or partial matching numbers observed throughout, wedge is a replacement. Case is very good overall with some warping and a split on the right edge of the lid.
