Lot consists of: (A) Queen Victoria, DS 2 - 1/4 pages, folio, Court of Saint James, February 9, 1865. Boldly signed at head of first page near handsome royal seal. Countersigned by Lord John Russell, Prime Minister. Appointment of William Tasker Smith as Consul in the State of Georgia. An interesting American Civil War period appointment "...to aid and protect Our merchants and others...who may trade with, or visit, or reside in the said State..." Fold breaks with edge wear and light staining. Bold ink and legible writing. With original black bordered envelope. CONDITION: Good. (B) Queen Victoria, DS, June 1848 document appointing John Venning Gent as a Lieutenant of the Pembroke Brigade of the Royal Dockyard Corps. Signed by Victoria at top left and countersigned at bottom left by the secretary of war. Fold lines with light staining, ink is fading but writing remains legible. CONDITION: Good. (C) Queen Victoria partial ADS, dated April 6. 1940, Imprisonment document sentencing Joseph Procter to 2 years imprisonment. Document is ripped and missing lower portion obscuring some words. Fold lines with scattered staining, bold ink, and legible writing. CONDITION: Good. Ex-Lattimer Collection and each document is accompanied by a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity.
