Lot consists of (A) 20 shilling note of the Province of Pennsylvania stating “This bill shall pass current for TWENTY SHILLINGS within the Province of Pennsylvania, according to an Act of Assembly, made in the 32d year of the Reign of King George II. Dated April 25, 1759.” The bill is signed by E. Morgan and Thomas Telbury and bears an engraving of the Great Seal of England on the front and on the back is “Printed by B. Franklin and David Hall. 1759”. There is also an engraving of pine branches under which is printed the famous period warning “To Counterfeit is Death.” (B) 8 dollar Revolutionary War (1776) dated Continental Currency. Printed by Hall & Sellers in Philadelphia. CONDITION: Both bills are fair with moderate period wear, but all signatures are legible with the 8-dollar example being the roughest of the two.
