The hand-hammered octagonal barrel features a brass front blade sight and a notched rear sight. The unmarked lock has stamp-engraved designs at the tail. The brass furniture includes a narrow 4-piece patchbox profusely engraved with scrolls and designs. The toeplate has a rectangular horn patchbox release button. Flat brass sideplate terminates with an arrow at the tail. Brass trigger guard is faceted, along with ramrod ferrules. Partially figured maple stock of classic later Lehigh County form, comb has relief apron at intersection with wrist. CONDITION: Barrel retains a pleasing brown patina with corrosion at the breech. Lock is a good reconversion and retains a brown patina, some scattered areas of pitting. Brass retains a pleasing mellow mustard patina. Stock very good. There is an area of loss above lock from percussion corrosion of wood. Small thin sliver replaced on right side at nosecap. A very attractive Lehigh rifle by a desirable maker.
