Manufactured circa 1849 in classic configuration. Barrel address reads toward muzzle. Cylinder is marked with Texas Ranger roll die scene with desirable "U.S. Dragoons" marking. Martially marked on major components, with the remnants of "U.S" stamping on frame now obfuscated. Mounted with 1 piece walnut grips with faint outlines of cartouches and "B" sub-inspector marked on butt. Matching serial numbers observed on rammer, barrel, cylinder arbor, cylinder, frame, trigger guard, and butt. Wedge is not serial numbered. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good, with iron assemblies turned a freckled gray patina. Brass trigger guard and backstrap have turned a mellow patina. Grips are very good as lightly sanded and finish added with no major signs of distress. Cartouches are illegible. Mechanically operable, hammer stops are soft. Bore is dark with defined rifling.
