Shipped on September 19, 1883 in a shipment of 5 guns of the same type to J.P. Moores Sons in New York, New York. Factory letter confirms configuration of 5 - 1/2" barrel in .44/40 WCF with blue finish and stocks are "Not Listed". Left side of barrel is marked with desirable acid etched panel marking that reads "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". Matching serial numbers observed on barrel underneath ejector rod housing, frame, trigger guard, and butt. Cylinder has been renumbered to match. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good, with finishes mostly turned a gray-brown patina. Panel is faint but legible and complete. Bright original bluing is visible in protected areas such as around trigger guard, on ejector rod housing, and top of backstrap near hammer. Hammer retains visible case colors. Grips are very good, retaining over half of their original finish and no major signs of distress. Action is tight and crisp with all 4 Colt clicks. Bore is frosted with visible rifling.
