Manufactured in 1861 for Civil War martial use with inspection marks throughout. Features include an 8" round barrel with New York address, German silver blade front sight, rebated percussion cylinder, frame cut for shoulder stock with matching steel backstrap, and 1-piece walnut grip with boxed cartouche on the left. Matching numbers observed throughout. Wedge is a replacement. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good. Blue has faded to an even chocolate patina. Case hardening likewise has faded with faint patterning visible. Markings are crisp, including the cylinder scene, which remains largely legible. Trigger guard displays a warm golden patina. Grips are very fine with an age darkened appearance and minor impressions. Very good, strong bore. Crisp mechanics. A very nice, early Civil War martial Colt.
