Circa 1915 per serial number. Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with "PATENT APR. 20, 1897 / SEPT. 9, 1902. DEC. 19, 1905. FEB. 14, 1911 / COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO." and "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY / U.S.A.", flaming bomb at rear of slide. Right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" and Eagle. Firing pin retaining plate with appropriate "S" proof on interior. Barrel with horizontal "S" proof on right side of lug. Barrel bushing with "S" proof on inside of left leg. Frame marked with flaming bomb on left side, over the magazine release, dust cover with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Right side of frame with serial number behind slide pin hole. Checkered slide release with smaller than usual relief mill cut with "S" proof on interior. Checkered spurred hammer, thin tab safety with relief mill cut, checkered magazine release, long smooth trigger, short 1911 grip safety, flat smooth mainspring with lanyard loop. 2 tone Springfield magazine with distinct folded wings and lanyard loop. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Good, retaining approximately half of the blued finish with scattered thinning throughout, some through to dove grey, mostly on slid and straps. Some sharper silvering to sharp edges throughout. Legends are crisp. Grips are very good with a few abraded heads. Mechanically fine, bore has visible rifling and even mild oxidation throughout.
