Manufactured in 1858 in classic configuration throughout. Barrel is roll marked with 1 line Colt Hartford barrel address, and cylinder is marked with W.L. Ormsby Naval Battle scene depicting the battle of Campeche in May of 1843. Matching serial numbers observed on rammer, wedge, barrel, cylinder arbor, frame, trigger guard, butt, and inside backstrap channel on 1 piece walnut grips. Left grip panel is marked "G*WIR*" near butt. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good, with a majority of the fading original blue present on barrel assembly mixing with a freckled brown patina and scattered evidence of cleaning. Frame and hammer are mostly a gray patina with faded original case colors in protected areas. Left grip panel has a splice repair. Cylinder scene is crisp and legible. Mechanically fine. Bore is frosted with scattered freckling and crisp rifling.
