Per the included factory letter, this revolver shipped as a .45 Colt with a 5 - 1/2" barrel, blued finish, ivory grips, and factory engraving to Tritch Hardware Company, Denver, Colorado, in a shipment of 1, on October 16th, 1925. The factory engraving of the number 2 style is undoubtedly that of Glahn or his shop, with well-cut florals on a stippled ground. Recoil shield with iconic Glahn geometrics interwoven with florals and dressed with line borders, and accents on ejector rod housing, ejector rod plunger head, and backstrap. Other features as standard with blade front sight, single line Colt information across top of barrel, caliber designation on left side of barrel, 2 line patent dates on left side of case colored frame, and full or partial serial numbers observed on frame (twice, once on the back under the grips), trigger guard and backstrap (under the grips), and on cylinder. Loading gate with 395 assembly number. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION Excellent, retaining approximately half of the factory finishes, with distensions about proofs from application of stamp. Barrel with thinning to gunmetal grey, particularly on ejector rod housing and left side of barrel consistent with holster wear, some brown toning visible. Frame with case colors largely faded, but retaining perhaps as much as 15% in protected areas such as recesses, with wonderful vibrancy. Grips are good with some black lines common to old ivory, right scale with a splice repair at toe, approximately 1 - 5/8" x 1". Mechanically fine with all four Colt clicks, bore is excellent with strong rifling and some mild frosting. This is a fantastic example of a Colorado shipped factory engraved gun.
