Manufactured in 1884 in classic configuration for this vintage of SAA, with 7 - 1/2" barrel chambered in .45 Colt with single line barrel address in block font, blade front sight, "V" notch rear sight, low profile kidney shaped ejector rod head, and 3 line patent date. Mounted with 1 piece walnut grips. Matching serial numbers observed on barrel underneath ejector rod housing, frame, trigger guard, butt, cylinder, and inside of backstrap channel on grips. Accompanied by a black leather bound French fitted hardwood case with maroon velvet liner and wood cartridge block for 40 rounds of .45 Colt. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good, with a significant majority of the original finish turned a freckled brown patina with approximately 25% original bluing remaining on barrel. Balance of gun has original bluing only in well-protected areas such as cylinder flutes. Frame shows traces of bright case color. Grips retain the majority of their original finish with no major signs of distress. Mechanically fine. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Case is excellent.
