Shipped on February 12, 1877 to Schuyler, Hartley, and Graham in New York, New York, in a shipment of 25 guns of the same type. Configuration is confirmed by factory letter, with caliber listed as ".44" and barrel length, finish, and stocks listed as "Not Listed". For this vintage of SAA "Not Listed" would be 7 - 1/2" barrel, blue finish, and walnut stocks. Matching serial numbers observed on barrel underneath ejector rod housing, frame, trigger guard, butt, and cylinder. This revolver has several desirable early features such as small front sight, caliber marking on barrel near center pin, ejector rod housing with reinforcement stud, bullseye ejector rod head, 2 line patent address on frame, script barrel address with serifs on either side, and caliber marking on left side of trigger guard. Chambered for the rare and desirable .44 Rimfire cartridge, with an estimated production of only 1,892 ever manufactured. These revolvers were made in their own separate serial number range and were made in both .44 and .22 Rimfire. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good, as cleaned to a gray patina and scattered faint traces of factory bluing remaining in protected areas. Replacement hammer retains bright case colors. Grips retain a vast majority of their finish with superficial handling marks. Action is tight and crisp with all 4 hammer stops. Bore is bright with sharp rifling.
