An interesting lot consisting of a father and son's military medals. The father, James R. Gilmore, served as a Brevet Lt. Colonel in the US Volunteers, New York, and as a Captain and Army quartermaster. The lot includes Gilmore's Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLUS) medal that is numbered "2055" with Lt. Col. broach bar. The lot also includes his son William Blair Gilmore's medals including: American Field Service Medal with rod broach bar, French Croix de Guerre with bronze star, Verdun Medal, and American Legion National Convention in France 1917-1927 medal. The medals are tastefully mounted with a mailing box from the American Field Service dated Octobe5 5, 1919. William served as a driver for 4 months during 1917 in Section SSU 2 and is noted as having subsequent service as a captain in the artillery. His Croix de Guerre is verified. The medals exhibit a nice patina with intact ribbons. Mollus medal with nice original gilding. CONDITION: Good.
