A Thompson's patent double-guard a fixed-base bellbottom lantern made by the Taylor Manufacturing Co. of New Britain, Connecticut. "Fitchburg R.R." is nicely embossed on the lid reflector and base fitter skirt. The lantern shows an old cleaning, with a heavily yellowed overcoat and some rust coming through. There is slight damage to some of the dinked filigree. There is a serial No. "7390" stamped in the soot cap. The bail saddle secures into a threaded ferrule. The plug-in glass fount assembly has a No. 1 ratchet burner affixed. The 6" clear globe is heavily embossed "FRR" and is significantly cracked above the RR marking.
Condition: (Good).
