A late model 1923 patent flat-top Adlake Reliable single-guard wire-bottom model, complete with fount and No. 2 ratchet burner. "V. Ry" is embossed in the soot cap. There is a serial No. "148" stamped into the lid panel. The frame is resistance-welded and has a Kero-type hinge. The clear No. 39 extended base globe is nicely embossed "Virginian. Ry." in above-average relief. The glass shows age-yellowing and is cloudy, with scratching noted. The lantern shows light rust and smooth metal on the lid, with much original plating showing on the rest of the frame.
