An early portable field telephone from the Rio Grande. "Portable Telephone No. 61 / Return to Superintendent D&RGWRR / Salt Lake City When Not Assigned" is incised on a brass identification plate. The telephone unit appears to be complete inside, but has not been tested and is being sold as-is. The housing case is leather-covered with tin borders and corners, showing some tight corrosion.
Condition: (Good).
