A beautiful cast iron round number plate from THE LOUIE, "452," a 2-8-0 consolidation type, was the last steamer in steam on The Louie. This locomotive was scrapped in the mid-1960s. The plate shows old black field paint with heavily tarnished, separately applied bronze numerals. There is significant paint loss, fading, and rust. Back of plate shows old black paint and "M&STL" and "L3760C" embossed. There is a center, threaded mounting boss. A 2" X 1/2" piece is broken out of the rounded border. This is a real nice and rare number plate from a great granger RR!
