A fixed-base double-guard brass-top frame made by the Railroad Signal Lamp & Lantern Company (but not hallmarked) for the New York & New England RR. "N Y & N E R R" is nicely embossed on the lid reflector. The chimney twists to clamp the globe. The plug-in glass fount is correct for this model and has a acorn-style shrouded Sangster burner. The flashed red globe is a classic New England barrel, with "N Y & N E R R" nicely embossed in block font in average relief. The globe is badly cracked in many places, with some areas possibly epoxied, and is intact. Color translucence is good. The lantern appears to have been cleaned long ago, and shows some very light surface rust and etching. The brass top is perfect.
