This lantern is a recent fantasy creation from New England. It is a 6" frame with "N. Y. P. & O. R. R." embossed in the lid reflector. The base is fixed, and there is an insert fount loose in a steel cylinder, soldered to the base. The fount is homemade and has a No. 1 ratchet burner attached. The frame shows a double-guard with ear bail similar to a C T Ham. The chimney is poorly soldered into the reflector. The brass top is a recent creation. This unit is a totally bogus and illegitimate creation, never having seen railroad service. The clear globe is a New England barrel, which is cracked about 2" from the top fitter.
