An early, unguarded, fixed globe model, likely made by the New England Glass Co., ca. early 1860s. The globe is an early solid red, gold salt ruby (sometimes called cranberry) example, beautifully engraved "C M & L R R" for the Concord Manchester & Lawrence RR, in old English font. The tin chimney is fixed by old original plaster to the globe's top fitter, and is wrapped by steel wire on the outside for extra hold. There is dagger-shaped vent filigree characteristic of NEG models. The fixed base is attached via old original plaster to the globe's bottom fitter. The plug-in oil cup with glass fount and twin-tube burner is intact. This unit is complete with a small hanging loop. Metal pieces show light rust with deteriorated original japanning. This is a great, early New England railroad lantern.

Condition: (Good).

Item Dimensions: 5 - 1/2" x 5 - 1/2" x 13".
