Circa 1904. A Birmingham sleeved nitro proofed vintage game gun with 26" dovetail blued steel barrels with 2 - 1/2" chambers and ejectors. Barrel also fit with tapered concave rib with small round brass front bead and dolls head extension at breech. Rib reads "W.R. LEESON, ASHFORD, KENT & 29 MADDOX St. LONDON W.". Barrel flats stamped with proofs, "20", "2 1/2", "CHOKE" and "3 TONS". Chokes are Improved Modified on left and Modified on right. The sidelock, screw grip, lightly case colored action is furnished with disk set strikers, third fastener, and double triggers. Sidelock action with light floral scroll and with "W.R. LEESON" engraved. Triggers protected by a blacked and engraved guard extending to a long bottom strap with scrolls and serial number engraved. Top lever is blacked and engraved with floral scroll with thumb piece checkered. Safe slide is checkered. "SAFE" is in gold. Gun is auto-safe. Dark brown English straight grip stock with pattern point checkering, tiger stripes also furnished with drop points, silver oval at belly and finished with a brown leather pad. Splinter forend with matched checkering, Anson push button release, and case hardened iron metal. Gun lives in a vintage oak and leather case with paper trade label, turn screw, snap caps, round oil bottle, and papers. CONDITION: Good. Sleeved barrels with mostly all of their color with marks from use. Bores are bright. Action is sound, although proud over wood. Triggers and ejectors are mechanically sound. Stock good with evidence of age and use. Forend good with evidence of well-managed and orchestrated repair. Case good signs of age and use.
