Lot consists of a composed pair made in Herstal, Belgium, by H. Peiper in 1930 and 1928, respectively, according to barrel codes. (A) features blued 27 - 1/2" Bayard Acier barrels with matted rib marked "POUR POUORES VIVES" and "ANC. ETABL. PEIPER HERSTAL, BELGIUM" with extractors and bead front sight. Case-hardened vignette and bird scene engraved exposed hammer action with Greener crossbolt, double triggers, and blued opening lever and trigger guard. Fine checkered walnut English grip stock with Bayard marked hard rubber buttplate. Matching checkered walnut splinter forearm with button release. (B) mirrors (A) gun, except the barrels are 29" and have slightly different markings. Action is the same but is engraved with full coverage of floral engraving with dog pointing scenes. Wood is of the same architecture but has a German store marking on the right side. Guns come in a fitted leather luggage-style case. CONDITION: Both guns have 98% finish with light handling marks and dings; (A) has a poorly repaired mark near the left side of the trigger guard on the stock, and (B) has a coat of varnish on the stock and some light scratches on barrels. Great bores and mechanics. The case is in excellent condition.
