a) US Field Officer’s “clam shell” sword with scabbard. Ricasso marked with small bear image. 30 inch blade. 37.5 inches overall with scabbard. Folding inside guard. Shagreen covered grip. Brass pommel/ bow/guard/hangers/drag. US military motifs on guard. Circa late 1890s. Condition: blade etching faded, very good shagreen covered grip, very good scabbard.b) US Field Officer’s sword. 30 inch blade. No scabbard. 34.5 inches overall. Blade etched with US eagle and “U.S.”, marked “Van Horn / New York NY” on ricasso, brass pommel/bow/guard, aluminum grip. Condition: strong etching, aged brass.c) US Model 1840 Heavy Cavalry Saber with scabbard, 35 inch blade, 41 inches over all, brass guard, leather grip, German made blade, dents and some oxidation on scabbard. Condition: blade has light oxidation, no wire on grip.d) US Cavalry Saber, no scabbard, 32 inch blade. 37 inches overall, pierced iron guard with American eagle, “(U missing)S” under the eagle, nickel plated, “Solingen” on ricasso, “proved” stamp on opposite side to ricasso, woven wrist knot. Condition: 30% nickel remaining, very good shagreen grip, 80% copper wrap.
