Lot of 2 mid-1800s swords.a) Model 1840 Musicians Sword with metal scabbard, blade marked “EMERSON/&/SILVER.TRENTON”, opposite side marked “U.S./DFM/1863”, brass grip and hilt, circa 1863. 28" blade; 35" overall with scabbard. Condition: guard bow marked “DFN”, excellent bright blade, mellow aged brass, grip, guard, scabbard throat and scabbard tip, rest of scabbard japaned metal.b) Model 1840 NCO Sword with leather scabbard, blade marked “US/ADK/1862”, Ames manufacturing, brass hilt and grip, circa 1862. 32 1/2" blade; 39" overall with scabbard. Condition: blade is bright, never been sharpened, with scattered spots of dark patina, excellent brass hilt and grip, excellent brass throat and tip on scabbard, 2 areas of fragile leather on scabbard, almost broken through, tape repair at the bottom.EX: Cordy Rich Collection.
