Circa 2004. This lovely game gun has been appropriately built with 29" barrels that have a narrow filed solid rib, round brass front sight bead and "Boss and Co." styled ejectors. The nitro proofed blacked steel barrels are chambered for 2 - 3/4" cartridges. Top left side of barrel is marked "WATSON BROS. 39 REDCROSS WAY. LONDON BRIDGE". The chokes are both Improved Cylinder. A smoky piece of European walnut is fitted with a Prince of Wales semi-pistol grip, closely separated fine point checkering, steel engraved grip cap, gold oval with initials "JRS" at belly, checkered butt with beautifully engraved heel and toe plates. A matching game forend with tightly spaced fine checkering has an Anson style push button release with engraved escutcheon and an engraved styled forend iron screw. The forend is fitted with "Boss" styled ejector springs. Coin finished action is well appointed and signed by master engraver Ken Hunt. The 7-pin left lockplate is engraved with 4 grouse with sky and clouds overhead flying over a barbed wire fence in a field with foliate scroll at back of lockplate. The 7-pin right lockplate is engraved with 3 pheasants flying through a field and over a post and beam fence, sky and clouds overhead, and foliate scroll at rear of lockplate. The rest of the action frame is engraved slightly deeper with lovely floral scroll. Bottom action is also adorned with a gold inlay of a hunting dog with a duck hanging form its mouth and a bit of golden wheat grass just beneath it. Just above this reads "WATSON BROS LONDON - ENGLAND" in small gold inlay. The non auto safety with "Safe" in gold action; single mechanical trigger. Trigger is protected by a cast-off rolled edged trigger guard that extends to a full length engraved strap. This fine gun is accompanied by a leather maker's case with canvas outer, snap caps, and oil bottle. CONDITION: Very good, barrels retain 98% black with very slight handling marks. Stock and forend in very good condition with a few minor handling marks. Action is mechanically sound with strong ejectors, is on face and trigger is crisp. Engraving is excellent. Case is also very good. Lovely gun.
