Circa 1992. Lovely rounded frame game gun with 28" chopper lump nitro-proofed barrels. Brass bead front sight on a narrow, low profile, concave rib. Rib engraved with with "J. Rigby & Co London. England". Rear of rib and breeches are dressed with acanthus scroll and stiff leaves. Barrel flats with London proofs for a 12 gauge with 2 - 3/4" chambers, a nominal 18.5 IBD, and the Rigby trademark stamp. Holland & Holland style assisted opener. Barrels have been threaded for Briley chokes, current chokes measure approximately Light Modified in left barrel and Skeet in right. Somewhat wider than normal splinter forearm with Anson style release, point pattern checkering, and acanthus scroll with a hatched background. Action flats have Rigby trademark, Birmingham proof, and serial number. Fences are engraved with acanthus scroll and one large leaf, with scroll running across the gun, wider scroll across the bottom. Iconic Rigby dipped sidelocks with gold line cocking indicators and engraved with a pair of woodcocks mid descent on left plate with accenting acanthus and stiff leaf borders, Right with pheasants mid-flight out of a marsh, with acanthus and stiff leaves. Long tang trigger guard with serial number protecting double triggers. Non-automatic safety with "SAFETY" inlaid in gold. Well-marbled stock with small teardrops, diamond shape straight grip, point pattern checkering about the wrist, and brass oval along toe line engraved 'JDA". Pigskin-covered recoil pad. Ejectors are strong and in time. Housed in an oak and leather case with Rigby trade label in lid and lined in midnight blue with accessories composing a 2 part wiping rod, wallet with cleaning tools, pair of snap caps, oil bottle, horn handled turnscrews, patch cutter, and cloth. Spare Briley chokes consist of 2 Imp Mods, an Imp Cylinder, and Modified. Top of lid with engraved round brass disk. CONDITION: Very good as rehabilitated. Barrels are good with some typical superficial scratches and handling marks, some silvering at muzzle, breech and where forearm makes contact. Forearm is very good with some handling marks but no cracks or chips. Locks are very good, retaining the majority of their case colors with silvering to edges, more vibrant in protected areas such as fences. Stock is very good with some handling marks from the field, including a few small dings. Mechanically fine, bores are very good, ejectors are in time and strong. Case is very good, but has had a thin foam patch added where water tables meet partition. Accessories fine. A great option for the field.
