Circa 2008. 28" chopper lump barrels are equipped with a steel bead front sight on a tapered concave solid rib with anti-glare matting. Left barrel is signed "Flli BERTUZZI ITALY" and discretely import marked on right barrel near barrel flats. Flats with nitro proofs for a 2008 manufactured 16 gauge with 2 - 3/4" chambers, nominal 17.0 IBD. Barrels with Sporting Products LLC information. Splinter forearm with an Anson style plunger release, with intricate semi-relief acanthus scrollwork on a backend and stippled ground, and point pattern checkering. Interior with "41" to match last 2 digits of serial number. Action is masterfully engraved by Dassa with intertwining floral scroll on a blackened background, with left lock depicting a covey of pheasants, 2 airborne and 1 standing, flying out over a well-detailed meadow, right lock depicts another covey of pheasant flying out across a meadow and over a field. The bottom of the action has an outstanding portrait of a German Shorthair pointer with a pheasant in his mouth. The engraving is signed "INC DASSA" on both locks and by the trigger guard. Non-automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid in gold. Long tang trigger guard with rolled right trigger guard with double triggers, front articulated. Stocked to the fences with an English style straight grip, point pattern checkering about the wrist, teardrops, and a checkered butt with skeleton buttplate with continuing acanthus scroll en suite. Housed in a leather-wrapped Nizzoli case with Bertuzzi trade label in lid and brass tabs, with accessories composing an oil bottle and pair snapcaps. CONDITION: Excellent, possibly unfired, and retaining virtually all of the finishes throughout. Mechanically excellent, bores excellent, ejectors are in time. Engraving is gorgeous, and the only detractor is a small area of mossing on the portrait of the dog. Case is fine, excepting the catch strap which is torn at lid.
