A very rare and seldom-seen Stanley Wanlass bronze. Wanlass is widely-regarded as the modern day Frederick Remington, known for his historical monuments as for his automotive bronze sculptures. He created this tribute to America's pioneering spirit in a limited edition of just 30 signed and numbered examples of this bronze. This bronze, called "New York to Paris", is a massive, finely-detailed bronze sculpture that depicts the legendary Thomas Flyer automobile and its crew, winning the fabled 13,000 mile Great Race of 1907 between New York and Paris. These bronzes were created in the year 1982. The entire edition sold out in just 11 months, mostly to major private collections and institutions. Examples of this sculpture infrequently appear on the secondary market; therefore, the bronze figure offered here, No. 28 of 30, represents a rare opportunity to own such a great piece of cross-categoried Automobilia sculpture and bronze artwork. The creation shows the eventual winner, with the car full of spare tires, passengers and supporting kits, speeding along despite the challenges of the period. An absolutely fantastic opportunity to own a piece of American history, mounted on an oak base with an original tag on the front.
