Lot consists of 74 Civil War era patriotic and political envelopes contained in a small 3-ring binder. The graphics range from Union soldiers, symbols of the United States, such as flags and eagles, and important figures such as Fort Sumter defender Major Anderson, to political cartoons regarding succession and those involved with the rebellion. There are several with images that mock Confederate president Jefferson Davis depicting his hanging and slandering his image. There is also a 1910 dated postcard which depicts Napoleon Bonaparte. All envelopes exhibit varying degrees of fading and yellowing, some with scattered water damage and blemishes. Graphics remain largely unmolested and the envelopes are quite displayable. CONDITION: Good-very good.
