Designed for a 3/4” opening, this 3-piece, sterling and 10K, 18K and 22K, 3-color rose, green and yellow gold maker-marked "Bohlinmade / Hollywood / Calif." buckle set "No 1168" is described in Ed’s 1951 catalog as the “acme of workmanship and design with filigree forming a delicate lace pattern”. The buckle measures 2” x 2 1/2” with a 7/8” x 3/4” keeper and 5/8” x 2” tip. With marvelous attention to detail that even includes gold overlay at the end of the tongue. Priced in 1951 at a whopping $250 when the average income in the US was only $3515 and the majority of other expensive buckles in the Bohlin catalog cost well below $50. Excellent condition, circa 1950s.
