Distinctive four-piece, 1” sterling silver buckle set with a raised letter “C” crossed by a gold lightning bolt, exquisitely engraved by the multiple award winning and founding member of the prestigious Traditional Cowboy Artists of America (TCAA), Ernie Marsh.
While Ernie is well known for his remarkable yet functional bits and spurs he has, according to our research, produced very few belt buckles. Excellent condition, circa 1990s.
Ernie Marsh (b. 1962)
Ernie Marsh has been making high quality silver mounted bridle bits and spurs since 1990 with a unique style of combining firearms engraving with traditional inlay techniques, along with painstaking attention to detail. With function being the underlying foundation, his heirloom quality pieces have become valued possessions of serious horsemen as well as collectors. As a founding member of the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association, he has exhibited annually at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in OKC since 1999, as well as at other exhibits in Texas, Arizona, Nevada, and elsewhere in Wyoming. Recognitions have included Academy of Western Artists, Spurmaker of the year in 2000, and United States Artists Association Katie Weitze Fellowship in Traditional Arts in 2016. Ernie is grateful for the opportunity to have been mentored and influenced by master makers of the last generation and continues to work toward promoting and carrying on the tradition and skills that were passed down to him combining function and artwork into a unique style that has influenced a younger generation of craftsmen and has earned him the respect of both horsemen and collectors alike.
