A beautiful German Navy officer's sword. The sword is triple etched, with engravings on each side of the blade, as well as the spine. Obverse is maker stamped "W.K. & C" with knight head and king's head proofs for Weyersberg, Kirschbaum, and Cie. The blade is quite attractive with nearly unmolested etchings that decorate half its length. There are only a few dark areas around the edges. The guard features hinges on each side, one to lock the blade into the scabbard, and the other which folds for comfortable wear in tight spaces. Blade locking portion of the sword is engraved "A. Ballauf". The ivory grip features a few chips toward the pommel and exhibits a pleasing honey patina. Fierce lion head pommel with 2 different colored emeralds, green and red, 1 for each eye. Complete with leather scabbard that features elegantly stippled and decorated brass mounts. Carry rings are also stippled. The scabbard remains firm with a few scattered scuffs, mounts with a pleasing patina. CONDITION: Very good.
