Martin notes: "If you find a hitched horsehair bridle that has in block lettering 'GOOD LUCK' or 'ROUGH RIDER', it probably was made in the Montana State Prison at Deer Lodge. These bridles were made between 1900 and 1915 as shown in dated images on page 98. The maker of such bridles is rarely known, with one exception, Figure 5.34." "The block letters of 'GOOD LUCK' were always hitched on the brow band, using dyed, colored horsehair, with a few rare examples hitched in natural black and white. On the noseband of these bridles, one occasionally finds the date that it was made, or a hitched American flag."
