Martin notes: "If Frank White aka Frank Williams #6419 had not marked his name and 'Salem, Ore' on the backside of the suspended German silver medallion, it would not have been possible to identify this hitched horsehair bridle as being made in the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, Oregon. Frank White was sentenced for two years beginning July 5, 1911. We know of three horsehair bridles that he hitched during that time. Each of the bridles attributed to Frank White have distinctive characteristics not found on any other prison-made bridle. Of particular interest is that the bridle rosettes buckle adjustment sets, and German silver overlaid bit were made in the Walla Walla prison metal shop where the inmates were allowed to make bridle hardware, saddle trimmings and bits and spurs." "This image illustrates the backside of the German silver frontal drop marked with the alias name: 'made by Frank Williams'. It is also marked 'Rt 6 Box 1 Salem, Ore'. This is exceedingly rare to find the identifying information about the inmate who hitched this Oregon made prison bridle."
