19th century Bavarian officer's lion head sword marked with the cypher of Ludwig I, the king of Bavaria from 1825 until the 1848 revolutions in the German states. The sword features a slightly curved blade that is triple engraved for about half of its length. Nice gray patina with unmolested decorations and scattered blemishes. Palmette shaped languets with stirrup hilt and lion head pommel. Wood grip is checkered on obverse and fluted on reverse (repair to reverse side by pommel). Cypher of Ludwig I is inset on obverse grip. Complete with metal black painted metal scabbard with brass mounts. Scabbard body appears to exhibit paint touch-up with a pleasing patina to brass mounts. Gilding is present under languets. CONDITION: Good.
