Lot consists of: (A) Tooled leather shoulder holster that fits a Colt M1877 "Lightning" revolver. Maker stamped: "P.A. WILKERSON / BUFFALO / WYO". (B) US M1879 revolver holster. "U.S. Military Holsters and Pistol Boxes" by Meadows discusses these holsters, on pgs. 101-102; the Watervliet Aresenal annual statement of manufacturers for the fiscal year 1878-1879, records the manufacture of 2000 pistol holsters, Colt Cal. .45. The holster also fits the Smith and Wesson Schofield revolver. Holster shows a very faint "U.S." embossed to the flap. The reverse of the holster, to the loop, has a faint "Watervliet Arsenal" stamp. The stitching and seams are intact, the leather shows very light flaking with the original plug intact. (C) US M1874 McKeever pouch. Pouch contains 20 original U.M.C. head stamped .45-70 cartridges. Stamped on the strap reverse "ROCK ISLAND / ARSENAL." PROVENANCE: Richard "Dick" Burdick collection. CONDITION: Leather on all items is stable with some showing period wear. All straps are intact and flaps supple.
