Made at Springfield Arsenal in 1899. Gun has extra "BA-IS" proof, possibly indicating DCM distribution from Benicia Arsenal circa the 1920s. Blued 30" military barrel with pinned blade integral base sight and military rear sight graduated to 1800 yards. Standard blued bolt action with standard markings, including "MODEL 1898", and blued bolt. Standard military finger groove walnut stock with "J.S.A./1898" inspector mark, "BA-IS" re-inspection mark, and correct blued military hardware. CONDITION: 80% original blue with areas worn to a silvery patina. Action worn to an honest silvery patina with carry and operating wear. Stock has sharp cartouches with small handling dings and marks. Good bore and mechanics.
