Made at Rock Island Arsenal in 1908. 24" blued military barrel with pinned banded front sight and a military rear sight graduated to 2800 yards. The barrel is marked "AV / (Flaming Bomb) / 12-18". "AV" stands for Avis, who re-barreled rifles for Springfield. Standard blued "R" bolt action with standard markings, including receiver marked "U.S. / ROCK ISLAND / ARSENAL / MODEL 1903" with blued swept bolt and milled parkerized trigger guard. Standard full length military finger groove walnut stock with no visible inspector mark, encircled "P" re-inspection mark, correct blued military hardware, two bolt reinforcement, and smooth steel buttplate. CONDITION: 60% original blue with areas worn to a silvery patina. Action worn to an honest silvery patina with carry and operating wear. The stock has oil-soaked surfaces with dings and marks. Good bore with ME of 2 and TE of 2 and good mechanics.
