Circa 1977-1986; XX visible on date code but last digit obfuscated. Dovetail lump barrels with a steel bead on a narrowing, tapering, solid, flat rib with file cut matting. Right barrel engraved "ACCIAIO SPECIALE SIAU" and "F. Piotti Gardone VT". Lightly engraved with floral borders at breech. Barrel flats with Italian nitro proofs for a 2 - 3/4" 12 gauge with a nominal IBD of 18.5 in both barrels; Woodcock Hill importer mark ahead of forearm lug. 2 screws on underside of rib, presumably for mounting a base for a sling swivel. Splinter forearm with Anson style plunger release, with point pattern checkering and mullered borders about a central heraldric device with a surmounted crown, vacant. Exterior of iron is engraved with nicely shaded small acanthus scrollwork, interior with matching serial number. Action flats with Italian proofs, Piotti stamp, and serial number. Case colored sidelock action is engraved with large acanthus scrollwork with strapwork on borders, vignettes of florals on fences, and a ribbon just above bars engraved "F. Piotti". Trigger guard protects double triggers and has a long tang, engraved en suite, with serial number. Non-automatic safety with "SICURA" engraved ahead of tab, pierced top lever. Roachbelly stock of a nice, densely grained walnut with English straight grip, checkered about the wrist in point pattern, ending in a leather wrapped pad with English style covered screws. Housed in an Emmebi leather wrapped case with wine coloring throughout, compartmentalized for gun when disassembled and accessories; no accessories present, one piece of thick paper with Piotti address. CONDITION: Very good, barrels with the vast majority of their bluing, with handling marks from the field, some through to silvering, particularly in upper 1/3rd towards muzzles. Stocks excellent with some handling marks en suite, forearm with 2 areas of abrasion at forearm, largest approximately 1/4" x 1/8", that has abraded heads. Action with virtually all of the case color with some minor handling marks and just starting to silver at highest edges. Mechanically fine, ejectors are strong and in time, bores are very good, bright and shiny, with some very mild pitting ahead of chambers. Case excellent.
