AGS CERTIFIED #11263. DSP. An absolutely outstanding example of this exceedingly rare and highly sought after Circa 1930's Porcelain Service Station Sign from Houston Gasoline, a product of Houston Oil Company, Houston, Texas. Sign shows a large and outstanding graphic of the General Sam Houston. Sign features bold script in the outer field with excellent shelving between each color. CONDITION: Side 1 shows excellent gloss and color throughout. There are some light surface scratches in the field, as well as, a few areas of spider webbing. The worst damage is two chips near the "O" and "U" of "Houston" and another quarter sized chip in the "O" of "Gasoline." The outer edges of the sign show age appropriate wear with minor chipping- mostly around the mounting holes (Score 88). Side 2 remains similarly nice with a few more significant chips in the "T" and "O" in "Houston." There is another half dollar sized chip near the bottom edge of the sign. The outer edges show age appropriate wear with light porcelain chipping. The field retains very nice color and shine (Score 87). An exceedingly rare and desirable example of this wonderful sign with even better subject matter.
