Last quarter of the 18th century. Tapered round barrel is unmarked, bayonet lug mounted on bottom at muzzle. Dutch Model 1740 banana lock with unbridled pan and swan neck cock. Brass furniture including flat sideplate with slightly beveled edges and screw to retain plate to stock. Vacant oval-shaped wrist escutcheon, 3-stage buttplate tang, sheet brass ramrod ferrules and trigger guard terminating in a small ball at both ends. Cherry stock in the British style. Modern steel ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel and lock retain a dark heavy brown patina. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration, functions well. Half of cock screw was broken off long ago. Brass retains a very dark mustard patina. Entry ferule shows some damage at mouth. 9 - 3/4" of forend replaced on right side. Some losses and chipping around lock. Otherwise good with scattered age cracks and marks from use.
