Standard Civil War era configuration. Brass mountings. Oval loading port. Dated 1845 near breech area with USN marking and "RP / P" proofmark. Manufactured by Ames. Left side of stock bears crisp RPB cartouche. Loading arm is numbered 1929. Plunger and loading arm serial numbers match. CONDITION: Excellent, with thinning National Armory Brown remaining on barrel with areas of freckling throughout. Loading arm and lock retain most of their original case colors. Brass components are an untouched mellow patina. Stock is excellent with scattered handling marks but no major cracks. Left flat of stock just above rear of trigger guard has a large dent. Mechanically fine. Bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling and minor abrasion near muzzle, possibly unfired.
