Rare 1910 Excelsior Auto Cycle named racing fob/medal in sterling silver awarded to Frank Montgomery for his multiple victories in Riverside, California on April 10th, 1910. Montgomery was an Excelsior factory team racer, and was killed in a motorcycle racing accident just shy of 6 years after being presented this medal, along with Bill Goudy on Jan. 3rd, 1916. The obverse features an early single cylinder Excelsior and reads "Excelsior Auto Cycle". The reverse reads "Frank Montgomery, Winner, 5 Mi. Stock Machines, 5 Mi. Free for Singles, Riverside M.C. Races, April 10, 1910". The medal is marked "Sterling" on reverse, and measures 1-3/4" long by 1-5/8" wide not including the leather strap. Overall length is 6".
